I was able to spend a little time this afternoon with some other writers participating in NaNoWriMo. We met at a local coffee shop and a great time was had.
Of course, by a great time I mean we all sat on our laptops and wrote! It was the quietest but least lonely writing session I could have imagined. It was nice, and I can’t wait to go back for the write-in next week.
My time spent today was well worth it! I added another 2,365 words to my count and made progress into chapter three. My total word count rests at 6,735 for the night.
I feel like this first week of November is going smoothly for me, something that I struggled with last year during my first experience with NaNo.
I remember the excitement during the first week, which I”m feeling this time around as well. There’s the drive to push and push and push, to reach the word counts and give it all you have.
Then you hit the burn out in week two. You feel like there’s nothing left to write and the story hits that point where you’re not sure how to get over the hump. But still you keep writing. And you have to, or you’ll never get past that hump.
I’m not looking forward to that slump, but I can’t wait to continue on with this story. Melody Graham has a story that needs telling, and I’m the only one who can do it!
Do you have a story to tell?
