This week started a few things at my house! My twins started kindergarten, yay for them! But not just that, I started on my journey to start my official writing career! *canned applause here*
I’m pretty excited about it, steam rolling on into the second full day. The first day was a half day, so I don’t managed to get in about 2,000 words before I had to pick the kids up. On the first full day I closed out my writing session with just over 5,000 words added. My current count is just over 46k.
Now that doesn’t sound like much, I know. I’m actually WAY behind my schedule. I started Aisling in July with Camp NaNoWriMo. The original plan had been to finish it by the last day of August. Nope, that didn’t happen. Life happened. There were several days in a row where I didn’t add a single word to my count. It was pretty bad for a while. I’m hoping to make up for it this week and into next week.
My current goal is to add 5k words every day my kids are in school. If I follow that, I will be able to make 70k by next Wednesday without a struggle. There’s also no reason I can’t make that happen. My girls are in school for about eight hours a day, and I’ve set aside three of those to get my writing done. I’m hoping that with practice I’ll be able to increase my word count to 6k a day during those three hours.
In other news, Aisling is progressing finally!! The story is coming to it’s conclusion with a bang! I’m excited for this one!
On the Stranded Moon front, there’s also news! I heard back from the beta readers. They had a lot of great things to say about the story, and the grammar… I hadn’t edited that part before passing it off to them. Oops. With the help of the readers I’ve recognized a few structure issues that will be addressed during the second half of this month and part of October.
NaNoWriMo is coming! I will be finalizing my plan for November over the coming weeks and will make a post about that.
